HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH · IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCE · WORKFORCE AND SERVICE REDESIGN
I have spent 24 years studying why good care fails. I know exactly where to look.
I am Dr Anna Moran. I work at the intersection of health services research, implementation science and real-world service delivery. My clients are health and disability organisations that know what good care looks like but cannot seem to get there consistently.
Whether your organisation is stuck in a workforce crisis, implementing a model of care that keeps stalling, or navigating a research-to-practice gap, I help you find a clear path forward. With evidence, not guesswork.
DR ANNA MORAN, FOUNDER
Academic rigour. Practical results.
I started my career as a physiotherapist. Over two decades that evolved into a research career examining how health and disability systems work, fail, and recover, across rural and remote Australia, aged care, disability services and allied health.
I have published extensively, led workforce redesign projects across Australia and New Zealand, and built a software platform out of sheer frustration with the systems I was studying. My work sits at a rare intersection: I understand the research, the policy, and what it actually takes to change how organisations operate in the real world.
“This is not consulting built on a generic framework. It is built on 24 years of being inside the problem, and caring deeply about fixing it.”
I work with a small number of clients at a time. That is deliberate. You get my full attention, not a junior team member following a template.

WHY ORGANISATIONS COME TO ME
Your organisation knows what good care looks like. The problem is getting there.
Most health and disability organisations are not failing because of bad people or poor intentions. They are failing because the gap between good strategy and real-world delivery is enormous, and almost no one helps you cross it.
I work at the intersection of evidence, strategy and implementation. I help you understand the problem properly, plan a way through it, and actually make the change stick.

...Leverage Anna's expertise in workforce and service redesign
Through her work at unplex, she has helped numerous healthcare organisations, and professional associations to identify and address workforce and service capacity problems, promoting positive outcomes for individuals with health and disability needs.
...Utilise Anna’s insights and expertise to develop and deliver an 'attract, recruit and retain program' targeting regional HR managers
Anna provided much needed inspiration to get our region to think about attraction, recruitment and retention differently and with a more humanistic focus rather than one based on traditional processes.
...Bring evidence-based practice to our organisation which was essential in designing a new model of care
Anna brought great knowledge, opinion, academia, and other externals to the table, all which strengthened our thinking. Her support gave us great confidence in our path forward, and ultimately will lead to a better service for our customers.
...Get to the heart of the issue or problem and then work with purpose to a result
We benefited from Anna's experience and would recommend her to all that wish to collaborate, build capability and get to an outcome for tangible results.
...help ‘unbundle’ some of the issues which were getting in the way of understanding how to attract, connect and retain health staff in the Wairarapa, NZ region.
Anna facilitated six interactive community workshops, attended by over 70 participants from a diverse range of people. Her results gave our Trust a comprehensive report and enabled us to build a funding case to recruit a Strategic Connector in mid-2025. When appointed, that person will enable attractive and connected workplaces and a more informed community. We found Anna to be attentive to our needs, empathetic about problem-solving and pragmatic in offering solutions. I personally found her to be a vibrant, intelligent person who brings a fresh, but disciplined and evidence-based approach to her work. This enabled us to see our needs in a new light. We can confidently say that we have a sound base to progress from, because of her work.
...inform SARRAH’s input into national health policy reform processes.
In her role as SARRAH research fellow, Dr Anna Moran used her extensive knowledge of the rural and remote allied health evidence base and understanding of evidence reviews to inform SARRAH’s input into national health policy reform processes. Anna's contribution to SARRAH's online profile and member engagement established our approach which continues to draw from her inspiration today. In particular, Anna's input to SARRAH's Practice Redesign Series underpinned the concepts that shaped the popular Allied Health Assistance Models of Care program. Anna brings a vibrant, energetic attitude to her work which is an inspiration to anyone working alongside her. Highly recommended.
...develop an innovative software tool that captures essential information, allowing us to proactively identify and plan supports for people with disabilities.
By measuring the real impact of disability on quality of life, this tool ensures that support planning is based on genuine needs rather than assumptions. The team at Unplex are engaged and aligned with our vision, bringing expertise and dedication to create a truly impactful tool. Their expertise and dedication will help us take a data-driven, yet highly person centred approach to improving lives. Highly recommend!
